Local Food Hero — AM 950 KTNF — The Voice of Minnesota

1:00pm, May 31, 2008

A show where we discuss the growing, cooking, eating and yes…the politics of what you put in your mouth.

This week is our Up North Show!

Outstanding in their Field: Shele Tofte, Dockside Fish Market, www.docksidefishmarket.com

***While our host Brett is on vacation we are excited to have Scott Pampuch, chef and owner of Corner Table Restaurant as our guest co-host!

Best Dressed Challenge: We want you the listener to send in your favorite recipe. It could be a dressing for a mixed green salad or a roasted veggie salad or heck we’ll even accept an egg salad recipe. we will test them in the “Official Local Food Hero Kitchen” and between now and the state fair we will choose our favorite 3 to be entered in a contest to win a super prize. Yet to be determined. Send your recipe to localfoodhero@gmail.com

We will then take those three recipes and invite the authors to come to the fair and we’ll have a celebrity chef prepare them at the healthy local food exhibit that RTC presents at the eco experience… we will then let fair goers choose their favorite. This should be fun.

I promise that your recipe will not be mass produced into bottles where they could end up sitting lonely, almost empty and crusty in someone’s fridge.

Minnesota Homegrown Cookbook

Order Here!

Minnesota Homegrown Cookbook

“What a salute this book is to all that is extraordinary about eating and living in Minnesota! We have our own home agriculture — all we need do is walk through a farmer’s market to see it. We support our own — our local farmers, artisans, dairies and all the professional cooks who bring that food to the table. This book brings what could be the missing link. Yes, the recipes are beyond good, but here we have the essential bedrock of who we are as a people — our rural communities. Without them, we become another state of vast factory-driven agriculture.
Thank you Renewing the Countryside for a lush cookbook to cook from everyday and for introducing us to the cooks who link us to our land.”

- Lynne Rossetto Kasper, Host of public radio’s national food show, The Splendid Table® from American Public Media
